Vicki, Coatbridge

"Six months ago [March 2023] I could barely walk. My back had gone again, I wasn’t sleeping, and it was as low as I’ve felt in a long time. I knew what the future looked like for me, and it terrified me. Then one night, I messaged JCD Coaching and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made for myself. On our first meeting, we attempted to walk round the West End park. It did not go well. Fourteen weeks later we went back, and I was standing on a narrow elevated platform balancing one leg! An elevated blind balance in public. Solid. Steady. Scary as f*ck but so much fun! Working with James has opened my eyes to what my body can do. This body. Not teenage me, skinny me, or the me who used to be at the gym six days a week. Me now. James has helped me to embrace that. To challenge myself in a way that is safe. To never stop learning, even when things go wrong. I’ll happily recommend James because he’s been a God sent to me. We’re only just getting started, and for the first time in a long time, I can’t wait to see where I’m going!"

"I used to be reasonably fit and enjoyed swimming, running, cycling, and going to the gym. I also attended James’s Boot Camp and Sprint sessions at Glenboig which were fun and hard work! All that came to an abrupt stop when, in September 2020, I suffered a tibia plateau fracture and had to have an operation to insert a metal plate. This meant I had a fixed brace for several weeks, then a hinged brace and finally just crutches. Aside from the pain, the immobility was hard to handle as were the limitations of my knee resulting from the injury. By January 2022, I felt able to resume a small level of training but wanted it to be properly structured, so I asked James for some PT sessions. He first evaluated my current state and abilities and developed a programme specifically for my knee and also for overall fitness. The programme has evolved over time as I have improved but continues to be challenging and enjoyable. As we have progressed there have been some setbacks from a physical perspective and it’s easy to get despondent with current struggles and forget what it was like at the beginning. I also need to acknowledge the improvements I have made and James has consistently pointed these out to me, which really helps when I am feeling low.
Obviously, there is a cost for PT sessions, but it is not just about the exercises; James has invested a lot of time to understand my specific condition and adapts things to suit. He has taken the time to get to know me and knows what works. He knows when to push but also when to stay stop; I know that I would not be where I am today if I had tried to do this on my own.

"I just want to say a big THANK YOU! It has been over a year now that I have been suffering from impaired mobility and chronic pain following the surgery I had on my broken fibula. Although I was able to walk, I was not able to run or jump, and I suffered from chronic pain after walking or standing for a long time. My leg strength and mobility suffered a lot as a consequence, and you helped me regain normality again. You took the time to evaluate my physical state holistically and then set about healing the root cause of my pain and impairment. Your examination was the most thorough I have received and I was grateful for finally having a thorough treatment plan which focused on both my physical and mental wellbeing. I noticed immediately how much more energy and positive attitude I had at the end of our sessions and that is something I’m also very grateful for. In addition to being my physio, you became my friend, and someone I know I could talk to whenever I was feeling homesick or down. And, every time, you had the right words to say to encourage me to believe in myself. I was lucky to find you. Thank you for everything that you do and for your passion to help people become the best versions of themselves."
